Dothan man found not guilty of sodomy, assault

DOTHAN, Ala (WDHN) — A Dothan man accused of attacking an elderly woman two years ago has been acquitted by a jury of his peers.

In April 2023, Dothan Police arrested 42-year-old Marcus Leonard Golden and charged him with one count of sodomy in the first degree and assault in the second degree.

According to Dothan Police Investigators, Golden had assaulted and sodomized an elderly woman in her home in October 2022. The alleged crime was reported to DPD after an employee at a Dothan home health agency recognized the injuries.

Golden’s trial had been pushed back four times before he finally stood before a Houston County Jury on Monay April 8. Four days later, the jury found him not guilty on both charges.
