Dothan man denied probation in 2021 Morris Street murder

DOTHAN, Ala (WDHN) — A Dothan man found guilty of manslaughter during an early 2024 murder trial has been denied probation.

Judge Christopher Richardson denied Kadarrius Salter’s probation request on Tuesday, March 26.

This decision came nearly twelve weeks after Salter was found guilty of manslaughter in the 2021 shooting death of 20-year-old Willis Rambo.

Police say Salter and his co-conspirator Christian McCallister were attempting to shoot at someone else when they accidentally shot and killed Willis in the 900 Block of Morris Street in southeast Dothan.

Salter was initially charged with murder, but a jury found him guilty of manslaughter after a five-day trial.

After being found guilty, Judge Richardson sentenced Salter to 20 years.

McCallister, who was also initially charged with murder, pled guilty to manslaughter in late 2021 after he was denied youthful offender status that same year. He was sentenced to 15 years in the Alabama Department of Corrections.
