Dothan man arrested, accused of sexually abusing underage girls

DOTHAN, Ala (WDHN) — A Dothan man is behind bars facing a hefty bond after police say he sexually abused multiple underage girls.

According to Dothan Police, in March, investigators were notified by the Department of Human Resources about a man who had sexual contact with several underage girls.

Police say after an investigation on Wednesday, April 17, officers arrested 26-year-old Robert Wesley Gibson II and charged him with four counts of sexual abuse in the first degree, one count of sodomy in the first degree, and one count of attempted rape in the first degree.

Authorities confirmed to WDHN that Gibson was a former deputy with the Houston County Sheriff’s Office but was terminated before the alleged crime took place.

Gibson was booked into the Houston County Jail on a $150,000 bond.
