Donald Trump stares directly at solar eclipse without glasses, despite all warnings against it

Parts of the United States were treated to the celestial spectacle of a lifetime on Monday when the first total solar eclipse in decades graced skies across the country.

Like many other American households, the Trump family, including the president, Melania and 11-year-old Barron, gathered outside their Washington abode to take in the show together.

Although literature on the dangers of looking directly at solar eclipses without eye protection is widely available, President Trump briefly ignored safety warnings and, at one point, looked directly at the sun sans glasses.

Naturally, Twitter is having a field day with the image.

Photos taken later on prove that the president eventually donned proper eyewear, but as we've already learned, even 20 seconds of unprotected eclipse viewing can be enough to cause serious and permanent harm.

We hope his eyes didn't sustain too much damage in the interim.
