Donald Trump Jr. Worries He May Be Indicted in Special Counsel Investigation Soon: Report

Is Donald Trump Jr. the next to be indicted in special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation?

The president's son has reportedly told friends in recent weeks that he "believes he could be indicted," a source familiar with the situation told Politico this week.

Trump Jr. could join his father's former campaign chair, Paul Manafort, former national security adviser Michael Flynn and others who've been indicted or pleaded guilty to charges stemming from Mueller's probe.

Trump Jr. testified last year that he did not tell his father beforehand about a meeting with Russian officials who promised "dirt" on rival Hillary Clinton. However, reports indicate that it seems that Mueller may be able to show that Trump Jr. perjured himself when he made that statement and that now President Trump did, in fact, know about the meeting prior to it taking place.

“I’m very worried about Don Jr.,” a former West Wing official recently told Vanity Fair.

The news comes after Tuesday's midterm elections saw the Democrats take back the house, a blow to the president.

President Trump held a watch party at the White House Tuesday evening as results came in, inviting dozens of friends to the East Room, where they dined on an all-American meal of mini hot dogs, hamburgers, French fries and pizza.

Speaking at a news conference Wednesday to address the results, the president boasted about stopping "the blue wave."

"We saw candidates that I supported achieve tremendous success last night," President Trump said.

The president also spoke about Mueller's investigation, saying it should "end."

"It's very bad for our country," he emphasized repeatedly.

After the press conference, it emerged Jeff Sessions had resigned as attorney general.

"At your request, I am submitting my resignation," Sessions wrote in a letter to the president. His resignation is effective immediately.

Trump tweeted that Sessions' chief of staff, Matthew G. Whitaker, will serve as acting attorney general.

"We thank Attorney General Jeff Sessions for his service, and wish him well!" Trump wrote. "A permanent replacement will be nominated at a later date."
