Donald Trump 'definitely doesn't wear' a bathrobe, says Sean Spicer ... but Twitter disagrees
The White House has gone on the offensive after a New York Times report painted a picture of a chaotic first couple of weeks for Donald Trump's presidency.
But while the article describes the "bungled rollout" of the executive order on immigration and "a flurry of ... embarrassments", it was the assertion that Mr Trump wears a bathrobe that seemed to particularly irk the administration.
The failing @nytimes was forced to apologize to its subscribers for the poor reporting it did on my election win. Now they are worse!

Calling it the "epitome of fake news", Sean Spicer, the White House press secretary, said: "I don’t think the president owns a bathrobe. He definitely doesn’t wear one."
Twitter users begged to differ.
The assertion prompted a flurry of pictures showing the president lounging around in white bathrobes.

Speaking of Donald Trump and bathrobes, Mike Rowe once auctioned an autographed Trump bathrobe https://t.co/gxBktjoCYdpic.twitter.com/V7vB6mQ6xT

The images were not an entirely welcome sight for some users.

Some people, meanwhile, wondered how exactly Mr Spicer could confirm this.
The idea that Spicer can definitively confirm that Trump never puts on a bathrobe after getting out of the shower is a tad creepy #bathrobe

T: Another thing.
Spicer: Yeah?
T: Tell 'em I don't even own a bathrobe.
Spicer: (looks at Trump, who's wearing a bathrobe)
T: You heard me.— Brian Ted Jones (@briantedjones) February 6, 2017
I pray I go the rest of my life not knowing how Sean Spicer became aware of Trump not owning a bathrobe

And others noted that, as the owner of a luxury hotel chain, Mr Trump "definitely has a bathrobe".
.@seanspicer Trump has hotels. Each room has a bathrobe. There's probably a warehouse full of bathrobes. He definitely has a bathrobe.

"Uh, yeah, I don't think hotel owner Mr Trump owns a bathrobe, or a tiny thing of shampoo, or a mini tube of Pringles, or a shower cap..."

Twitter users also suggested Mr Trump shouldn't be so defensive about wearing a bathrobe, showing pictures of his predecessors wearing such a garment.
@WestWingReport Also weird to see Spicer & #Trump getting all defensive about a #bathrobe when their hero wasn't shy about it. #BathrobeGatepic.twitter.com/2WN76Ad1pU

Nick Merrill, Hillary Clinton's press secretary, was more concerned more important matters weren't being looked at while he was lounging around in his bathrobe.
It would be much better for all of us if you got out of your bathrobe and made sure there wasn't something going on in the Sit Room. https://t.co/gNleVFjswu
