Donald Trump 'definitely doesn't wear' a bathrobe, says Sean Spicer ... but Twitter disagrees

The White House has gone on the offensive after a New York Times report painted a picture of a chaotic first couple of weeks for Donald Trump's presidency.

But while the article describes the "bungled rollout" of the executive order on immigration and  "a flurry of ... embarrassments", it was the assertion that Mr Trump wears a bathrobe that seemed to particularly irk the administration.

Calling it the "epitome of fake news", Sean Spicer, the White House press secretary, said: "I don’t think the president owns a bathrobe. He definitely doesn’t wear one."

Twitter users begged to differ.

The assertion prompted a flurry of pictures showing the president lounging around in white bathrobes.

The images were not an entirely welcome sight for some users.

Some people, meanwhile, wondered how exactly Mr Spicer could confirm this.

And others noted that, as the owner of a luxury hotel chain, Mr Trump "definitely has a bathrobe".

Twitter users also suggested Mr Trump shouldn't be so defensive about wearing a bathrobe, showing pictures of his predecessors wearing such a garment.

Nick Merrill, Hillary Clinton's press secretary, was more concerned more important matters weren't being looked at while he was lounging around in his bathrobe.
