Donald Trump boasts he is 'more elite than the elite' in bizarre rally rant

President Donald Trump has mocked the so-called ‘elite’ at a campaign rally and boasted of his own wealth, despite riding to power in 2016 on an anti-establishment ticket.

The typically outlandish comments came during an appearance in Duluth, Minnesota on Wednesday night – where he supported Republican House candidate Pete Stauber.

Attacking his critics, President Trump said: ‘You ever notice they always call the other side ‘the elite.’ The elite!

‘Why are they elite? I have a much better apartment than they do. I’m smarter than they are. I’m richer than they are. I became president and they didn’t.’

The comments are in direct contrast to his Presidential campaign, which saw Trump vowing to ‘drain the swamp’ of DC politics, while also appearing to offer a voice to the disenfranchised.

The rally also saw Trump mocking a protestor, who held a photo of the President alongside convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Earlier today, it was reported that Trump threw starburst sweets at German chancellor Angela Merkel during the G7 meeting.

According to Eurasia Group President Ian Bremner, Trump decided to throw sweets to Merkel after an apparent attempt to pressure him was into signing a new rules-based international order.
