Domestic violence suspect seriously injured after chase

(TELLER COUNTY, Colo.) — A felony domestic violence suspect out of Teller County was seriously injured in a crash following a chase in Park County on Saturday, May 18.

According to the Teller County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO), deputies initially responded around 4 a.m. on Saturday to the Pikes Peak Regional Hospital on a report of a woman who was injured as a result of domestic violence that occurred in Teller County.

When deputies arrived, they found the woman had suffered serious injuries and that the suspect was a previous felony offender who may have been in possession of a gun. Deputies obtained a search warrant for the location where the assault happened, as well as an arrest warrant for the suspect, 51-year-old Mark Lewis Tuckel.

TCSO issued a Be On The Lookout (BOLO) for Tuckel’s car in surrounding counties, and the Park County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) later spotted it outside Fairplay on Highway 9. PCSO tried to pull Tuckel’s car over, and a chase ensued. When the chase became too dangerous for other drivers and deputies, the chase was called off.
