Domestic violence arrest leads to drug charges

An Owensboro man initially charged with domestic violence was later charged with drug trafficking, after an investigation by the Owensboro Police Department.

An OPD press release says officers were called to Surrey Drive West early Wednesday to the report of disturbance. Reports say Cameron L. Jackson, 24, of the 1700 block of Woodland Court, was charged with fourth-degree assault (domestic violence).

The release says officers recovered more than $12,000, a handgun and a large number of pills suspected to be fentanyl.

After obtaining a search warrant of Jackson’s home, detectives from OPD’s Street Crimes Unit recovered about two pounds of a substance believed to be methamphetamine, along with cocaine, marijuana and evidence of a drug trafficking operations, the press release says. Various firearms, including a handgun, rifles and a shotgun were also recovered.

Jackson was charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (meth), first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (cocaine), possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, aggravated trafficking in a controlled substance (fentanyl) and misdemeanor charges.

Jackson was being held Wednesday in the Daviess County Detention Center.
