Dolphins Worth Drafting on your Fantasy Football Team

It’s never too early to begin talking fantasy football, right? For Miami Dolphins fans, now is a good time to start thinking about players to consider for your 2016 roster.

While it’s only the end of May and players are just starting to report for OTA’s, fantasy football has become a growing part of the game and is helping to increase spectatorship of the already immensely popular, National Football League.

So here is a little something to scratch that fantasy itch that most of us have by now, a list of Miami Dolphins players that you may consider adding to your fantasy football roster when draft day finally arrives.

Third-year wide receiver Jarvis Landry is a sure bet to see plenty of action come his way in 2016. After becoming the first player in franchise history to record a 100-catch season, Landry will again be one of the featured players in Miami’s offense.

Landry will be even more valued in point-per-reception leagues, but he is currently going in the fourth round according to his average draft position. Coming off a 110-catch, 1,157-yard season, the one knock on Landry’s fantasy outlook is his touchdown numbers as he caught just four last season.

With another year of experience under his belt, I predict Landry to once again flirt with 90-100 catches, 1,000 yards and five to eight touchdowns which would be some pretty healthy numbers for your fantasy team’s second wide receiver.

After seeing limited action in his rookie season, second-year Dolphins running back Jay Ajayi will be called upon to carry the majority of the workload at tailback for Miami in 2016.

With running backs being a premium position in fantasy football, and in the new age of football where teams are now counting on multiple players to handle the work load of the position, Ajayi’s stock should rise a little in the fantasy world since there are currently no real threats behind him on the depth chart to steal carries.

In a rookie campaign that included just 49 carries for 187 yards and a single touchdown, Ajayi’s numbers should be more on pace with the starting running backs in the league in 2016. Currently being drafted in the fifth round, I expect Ajayi to end up with at least 800 yards and five touchdowns.

If Miami doesn’t bring in another veteran back, and they rely solely on Ajayi to be the primary ball carrier, I wouldn’t be shocked if he broke 1,000 yards and came closer to the 8-10 touchdown range.

DeVante Parker is another second-year Dolphin who should see a bump statistically in 2016. With an average draft position in the sixth round, Parker is destined to increase his totals from last year when he caught 26 passes for 494 yards and three touchdowns.

There is growing hype around Parker who finished the 2015 season on a high note scoring touchdowns in three of the team’s final six games. He also never saw less than five targets the final six weeks when he started seeing an increase in his number of snaps played. Parker was also the Dolphins main deep threat last year as he finished the season with 19 yards per catch while recording at least 60 receiving yards in five of the final six games.

As Miami’s primary outside receiver, Parker will most likely be second on the team in targets – behind Landry – and could realistically catch over 70 balls for around 1,000 yards and 7-10 touchdowns.

If your strategy is to load up on running back, wide receiver and tight ends early in the draft, a late-round quarterback on your radar may end up being Dolphins signal caller, Ryan Tannehill.

Tannehill will have some weeks throughout the year where he is a must-sit – most notably his road trips to New York and Buffalo – so you’ll definitely want a capable second option besides him. However, Tannehill may provide some late-round upside if he can come close to duplicating his 2014 season when he finished with over 4,000 yards and 27 touchdowns.

Coming off a rather disappointing season in 2015, Jordan Cameron will look to bounce back as one of the better fantasy options at tight end this season. Logging under 400 yards and just three touchdowns normally doesn’t sit well with fantasy owners; however, Cameron has a ton of upside and it wouldn’t be shocking if he returns to his 2013 form when he finished with 80 receptions, nearly 1,000 yards and seven touchdowns.

Currently with an average draft position in the 14th round, Cameron may be worth taking a chance on as your team’s second tight end.
