Dolphins Challenge Cancer event raises record-breaking $12 million

The 14th annual Dolphins Challenge Cancer event raised a record-breaking $12 million for cancer research, the team announced Tuesday.

DCC XIV, which is the NFL’s largest charity event, drew 6,702 participants who helped raise money that will go towards cancer research at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Since the DCC’s inception in 2010, the event has raised $75 million for cancer research.

This year’s DCC also had more than 460 cancer survivors participate, Dolphins president and CEO Tom Garfinkel said.

“It’s just very rewarding,” Garfinkel said. “Cancer is something that affects everybody, myself, probably everybody, a family member, friend. It’s amazing. It’s amazing to see a community come together like this.”
