Dog with ‘painful past’ finds joy in Texas. ‘From shattered bones to mended hearts’

A dog struggling with the scars of a painful past has been given a new lease on life at a Texas humane society.

Sadie, a playful pup with soulful eyes and a huge heart, arrived at the shelter in December and, with the help of loving folks, began her new journey to happiness.

“From shattered bones to mended hearts, Sadie’s journey embodies the resilience of the canine spirit,” the post on Gulf Coast Humane Society’s Facebook page said.

“Transferred to us from Portland Animal Control in December, Sadie bore the scars of a painful past – multiple fractured ribs and bite wounds from a presumed attack by a bigger dog.”

Sadie pushed though and even found a new home after only being up for adoption for a single day.

“For over (two) months, we nursed her back to health, showering her with the care and affection she deserved. Since then, Sadie has made a full recovery and found her forever home after being on our adoption floor for just one day where she can live out her days being loved as she should!” the post said.

People were overjoyed in the comment section and wished Sadie and her new owners well.

“Precious Sadie! So glad you have a wonderful new home!” one person said on Facebook.

“Those terrier breeds love their owners like no other,” another noted.

“Living proof that love encourages love,” someone commented.

“Y’all are the best. What a sweet baby!! Thank you for saving her!” one person said.

The Gulf Coast Humane Society is in Corpus Christi.
