Dog attacks, bites, at large complaints filed with sheriff

May 13—The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office was called to three reports of incidents involving dogs not being under control by owners.

Two incidents involved a person walking being bitten.

On May 5, CCSO Animal Control Officer Jessica McCoy reported a resident was working in his yard in the 200 block of Hinch Mountain View Rd. with his dog attached to a shed when a two dogs came from a residence in the 500 block of Hwy. 68 and attacked his dog.

The dog was taken to a vet where stitches were required and other injuries were reported.

On May 7, a woman was walking along 800 Jr. Camp Rd. Near Mayland when dogs unrestrained dogs bolted out of a yard, crossed over the road and attacked the walker.

The walker suffered puncture wounds.

The owner of the two dogs was instructed to keep the dogs contained and was advised of the penalties for failure to do so.

On May 10, it was reported a neighbor's dog attacked a cat in the 2000 block of Tabor Loop.

When animal control officers arrived on the scene, residents started gathering up several dogs.

A written warning was given to the dog owners to keep the dogs restrained and under control.
