Dodgers' Pederson exits with contusion after hitting wall

Right fielder Joc Pederson left the Los Angeles Dodgers' Monday game after hitting the outfield wall, but he later said that he escaped any serious injury.

Pederson, who already had homered twice in the game at Dodger Stadium, struck the low right field wall while reaching into the seats to steal a fifth-inning homer from the Colorado Rockies' Charlie Blackmon.

The collision caused Pederson to fall to the warning track before manager Dave Roberts and a team trainer came out to check on him. Pederson eventually walked off on his own, replaced in the game by Enrique Hernandez.

The team later announced that Pederson sustained an abdominal contusion.

Pederson said postgame, "I'm pretty sure no broken ribs. I'm doing all right. Feeling a lot better. I got the wind knocked out of me and like a weird cramp thing in my obliques, rib-ish area, so they were a little concerned, but so far, so good."

Pederson, 27, went 3-for-3 with five RBIs before his early exit from the Dodgers' 16-9 win over the Rockies. He also hit a game-winning homer as an 11th-inning pinch hitter Sunday, leading Los Angeles to a 4-3 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks in Phoenix.

For the season, Pederson is hitting .242 with a .333 on-base percentage, a .519 slugging percentage, 30 homers and 64 RBIs in 128 games.
