Dodgers come up with unusual solution to fans getting stuck in traffic
Look! Up in the sky. It’s a bird. It’s a plane. It’s a … gondola? The Los Angeles Dodgers want to ensure their fans never get caught in traffic again, and they think a gondola is the way to go.

A company has proposed building a gondola that would take fans from Union Station to Dodger Stadium in five minutes, according to the Los Angeles Times. Oh, and about that company … it’s funded by former Dodgers owner Frank McCourt.
It’s an unusual idea, but all parties seem to be seriously considering it. Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti is on board and the Dodgers endorsed the project as “an important and innovative project.”
If the project moves forward, the cost of the gondola is expected to be privately financed, according to the Los Angeles Times.
The gondola line, which could ferry passengers above the traffic-choked 110 Freeway, is one of several major infrastructure investments proposed in Los Angeles County that would not be built by Metro or funded by taxpayers.
McCourt’s company would fund a portion of the $125 million estimated cost. The rest would be privately financed. While those involved haven’t set an official price for taking the gondola to the park, a ticket is expected to be less than it would cost to park at the stadium.
It’s a pretty bold proposal for Los Angeles, which is known for having terrible traffic. While there are still plenty of hurdles to clear here, at least one thing is certain: With a gondola, Yasiel Puig would never be late for a game again.
