Fans will get a chance to look at the 2016 season from inside Hendrick Motorsports this summer.

The “Road to Race Day” documentary is an eight-part series chronicling the team. It will be released July 19 on Complex Networks’ Rated Red and the series’ executive producer is Peter Berg.

“At the heart of the series is a team of people who share an incredible passion for and dedication to stock car racing and a drive to win. Hendrick Motorsports believed in us and gave us unparalleled access to share their story, and we’re grateful to them for inviting us into their family,” Berg said in a Hendrick statement. “Road to Race Day adds a personal dimension to the sport, and it spotlights the passionate individuals who make Hendrick Motorsports one of the most successful racing teams of all time.”

Berg was the executive producer of the “Friday Night Lights” television series that ran from 2006-11 and was the director for the movie of the same name as well as “Lone Survivor” and “Patriots Day.”

The episodes will be released weekly and will feature Hendrick drivers Dale Earnhardt Jr., Chase Elliott, Jimmie Johnson and Kasey Kahne and their teams.

“When we committed to the project, our goal was to give people something that looked and felt unlike anything we’d ever done,” HMS president Marshall Carlson said. “We knew it would require an unprecedented level of access, and that proved to be true. Whether the viewer is a NASCAR fan or not, we think they’ll be surprised and walk away with a different impression of our team and sport. We’re grateful to Cynthia, Peter and everyone involved for their enthusiasm about the series and the incredible work that went into making it.”

Complex’s Rated Red is online here as well as available via YouTube and apps for both Android and iOS devices. Complex is a property of Verizon Hearst Media Partners and Yahoo Sports is a subsidiary of Verizon.
