Doctor Who’s Russell T Davies has said that fans will be talking about Steven Moffat’s new episode "for years".
In March it was confirmed that former showrunner Moffat, who was in charge for both Matt Smith and Peter Capaldi’s stints as the Doctor, would be returning to the show to write an episode for Ncuti Gatwa’s first season.
The new episode will be directed by Bridgerton’s Julie Anne Robinson, and it is confirmed to be titled ‘Boom’.
Speaking to Digital Spy and other media at a Q&A event for the world premiere of the new season, current showrunner Davies revealed details about the episode that Moffat has penned.

"There are some great monsters coming up," he said. "I kind of want tension and those old-fashioned horror scares. Episode three, which is called ‘Boom’ – at the very start to that episode, the Doctor stands on a landmine and can’t move for the entire episode, and that is absolutely a masterpiece of performance.
"And in terms of tension, it’s just thrilling. I can’t wait for people to see it. People will be talking about that for years to come."
In March, Moffat teased details about the episode and spoke about the process of finding the right idea to return to the show with.

He said: "When I was getting involved in the series again, I pitched several ideas to [Davies]. I sent several emails until I remember I sent one idea that I thought was dynamite.
"I got an email back within one minute saying, ‘That’s it, go write that, I want that immediately.’ So I did. It’s a collaboration of enthusiasm… what we’re doing is giggling and laughing and shouting and bounding around the room about how clever and exciting all this is."
The new season, which premieres on BBC One and Disney+ on Saturday, May 11, will feature a range of guest stars who will join the Doctor and companion Ruby Sunday (Millie Gibson), including cameos from Strictly stars Shirley Ballas and Johannes Radebe.
