Doctor Who has given us a reunion between legendary companions Tegan Jovanka and Nyssa to promote the Blu-ray release of season 20.

The season, which originally aired in 1983, focuses on Peter Davison's Fifth Doctor, and the new home release has been previewed with a special 13-minute clip.

Written by Pete McTighe, the clip features Tegan (Janet Fielding) in the present day as she receives a mysterious text on her phone mentioning a "blue box".

She then heads to a fairground, where she meets none other than Nyssa (Sarah Sutton), who declares: "It's been a long time!" before the pair emotionally embrace.

Nyssa tells her that she "hitched a ride", before we see the TARDIS. Nyssa reveals that the Doctor wants to see her. Tegan replies: "Which one? Scarf or celery, or woman?"

Tegan then goes into the TARDIS, where she encounters the Mara, who tries to tempt her with her deepest desires, which Tegan refuses.

Fans are then given a preview of the nine-disc Blu-ray collection (available for pre-order now), including a special feature in which Davison, Fielding and Sutton go on a European road trip together.

Also included is a new 90-minute version of The Five Doctors anniversary special, as well as seven new episodes of Behind the Sofa with the likes of Davison, Colin Baker (The Doctor) and Sylvester McCoy, alongside many more features.

Tegan last appeared in Jodie Whittaker's final episode 'The Power of the Doctor' last year, cameoing alongside Sophie Aldred's Ace.

Doctor Who is currently gearing up for three new specials later this year, which will see David Tennant back as the Doctor before regenerating into Ncuti Gatwa's Fifteenth Doctor.

Doctor Who returns later in 2023 on BBC One in the UK and Disney+ elsewhere. Meanwhile, in the US, the show airs on BBC America, with series 1-12 available on Max.
