Doctor Who boss Russell T Davies has teased former showrunner Steven Moffat's return episode.

It was recently announced that Moffat - who was a frequent writer during Davies's original stint as showrunner before taking over as executive producer in 2010 - would be writing an episode for Ncuti Gatwa's first season as the titular Time Lord.

Taking to Instagram, Davies has now provided fans with taste of what they can expect from the "brilliant" episode.

"I’ve had a quick look, and there’s a thing that does things and a perfectly ordinary word turned into something TERRIFYING and it’s all in outer space and there’s a woman and OH MY GOD," he began.

"It is, of course, brilliant. Beyond brilliant, it’s an absolutely mesmerising episode! I’m lucky and proud and honoured to be working with Steven Moffat, the great man."

Davies went on to praise Julie Anne Robinson, who directed the currently-untitled instalment, before adding: "So stand back, get ready, and travel with the Doctor and Ruby to the most dangerous world you can imagine, and… Antelope. Moment. Drums."

If those final words are anything to go by, it looks like we can expect to see the return of The Moment.

The Moment, also known as a 'Galaxy Eater', was the most powerful and dangerous sentient weapon in the universe. The Doctor contemplated using this weapon in the 50th anniversary special, which was written by Moffat.

Meanwhile, drums have been used to symbolise The Master, who would hear a constant drumming sound in his head.

"What can I tell you? There was begging, there was pleading, but finally Russell agreed to let me have another go — so long as I got out of his garden," Moffat said when the upcoming episode was announced.

"Working with old friends and a brand new Doctor, I couldn't be happier."

Doctor Who will return for its 14th series in May, airing on BBC One in the UK and Disney+ elsewhere. Classic episodes of Doctor Who are available on BBC iPlayer in the UK.
