MSP: Woman dies after crash with semi

EGELSTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A woman died following a crash with a semi-truck near Muskegon Wednesday afternoon.

It happened around 2 p.m. on Apple Avenue at Wolf Lake Road in Egelston Township.

Michigan State Police say that a woman turning into a business parking lot collided with a semi-truck hauling that was gravel. Dispatchers said the car hit a utility pole. The semi-truck caught fire.

The 24-year-old Muskegon woman driving the car was taken to the hospital, where she died, police said.

The driver of the semi sustained minor injuries.

Apple Avenue was closed in both directions between Wolf Lake Road and S. Forest Drive following the crash.
