Disney Channel Star Debby Ryan Arrested for a DUI: Inside Her Rise to Fame

Disney Channel Star Debby Ryan Will Serve 3 Years Probation and No Jail Time for DUI: Report

Disney Channel star Debby Ryan is taking some time to reassess her actions.

The Jessie actress was arrested for driving under the influence on April 4, PEOPLE can confirm.

"Over the last few days I have had the chance to think about my actions, and I wish I had used better judgement," Ryan, 22, posted on Twitter Wednesday. "I recognize that I am a role model and have always worked hard to set a good example for my millions of fans. I am so sorry to disappoint everyone."

Born in Alabama, Ryan grew up living around Europe because of her father's military career before settling back in Texas.

"I did professional theater on the American base in Germany," Ryan told PEOPLE in 2009. "When we moved back to Texas [in 2003], I told my mom I wanted to do it for real."

A self-described "nerd," Ryan was an avid reader who was her school's mascot and a member of the chess club before skyrocketing to fame in 2008 as supporting character Bailey Pickett on the Disney Channel original series The Suite Life on Deck. She then became the lead of her won Disney Channel show, Jessie, which ran from 2011 to 2015.

Earlier this year, Ryan had a multiple-episode arc on NBC's They Mysteries of Laura.

TMZ reports that Ryan was administered a field sobriety test after she made a left in her 2016 Audi and slammed into a Mercedes.

Ryan blew a .11 (the legal limit is .08) and is now out on $100,000 bail, the site reports.

Ryan's rep has not yet responded to PEOPLE's request for comment.
