The Venezuelan actor played Paz in "The Bourne Ultimatum," was praised for his portrayal of the title character in 2010 miniseries "Carlos the Jackal," appeared in Kathryn Bigelow's "Zero Dark Thirty" and has good links with "Doctor Strange" director Scott Derrickson.
That's because Derrickson's most recent film, "Deliver Us From Evil," had Ramírez as one of two principal characters, teaming up with Eric Bana in the 2014 horror flick.
And as IGN reports, Ramirez says he has been in conversation with Derrickson about "Doctor Strange." Had he been approached to be involved in the 2015 project? "We're talking," said Ramírez, "we've been talking."
Though the lead role may well fall to Jared Leto, Tom Hardy or Benedict Cumberbatch, Ramirez could yet suit the part of antagonist Baron Mordo, a villanous magic-wielder who has frequently clashed with Doctor Strange over years of comic book history.
As for the part of Dr. Stephen Strange himself, /Film points out that Jared Leto ("Dallas Buyers Club") may have just bettered his own chances of landing the role, having declined a starring berth in "Brilliance," recently vacated by Will Smith.
