DeWitt teenager injured in Saturday afternoon crash

RILEY TWP. — A 17-year-old DeWitt boy suffered life-threatening injuries Saturday when the vehicle he was driving was struck by a commercial vehicle.

Clinton County sheriff's deputies were dispatched to the intersection of Francis and Pratt roads at about 1 p.m. Saturday after a reported two-vehicle crash, Lt. Dan Spitzley said in a press release.

The teen, who was eastbound on Pratt Road, drove into the path of the northbound commercial vehicle, deputies said.

The 26-year-old Grand Rapids man who was driving the commercial vehicle suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene. The 17-year-old was transported to Sparrow Hospital.

This crash remains under investigation.

Deputies were assisted at the scene by Michigan State Police, Dewitt Area Fire, Westphalia Fire, Mercy Ambulance and Clinton County Road Commission. Clinton County Central Dispatch also assisted.
