It’s one thing for athletes to perform on the field, but what they do off the field will judge a huge part of their legacies.

Just ask Atlanta Falcons running back Devonta Freeman. During a morning jog routine, he stopped to help an 82-year-old woman with her yard work, according to WSBT TV in Atlanta.

He helped her lawn mow, before helping her complete her work in the yard for a day. This Instagram post captured the moment:

The 24-year-old running back had a strong 2015 season, emerging as this team’s running back of the future. In 15 games with the team last season, he managed 1,061 yards and a ridiculous 11 touchdowns.

He gave the Falcons their first good running back in ages, and Kyle Shanahan’s much-criticized offense deserves some credit for giving this team a two-dimensional offense.

What Freeman did to help this lady out is simply remarkable, and it’s why we look up to some of these athletes. We’ll always hear stories about how some are jerks in public and refuse to do anything for fans.

Freeman has shown nothing but class in Atlanta, and it’s great for the team to have a young role model like him go out of his way to help her out. Hopefully more of us can learn from him: Respect your elders and help when you can. It goes a long way.
