It looked to me as if the police were being attacked.
"In addition to Detroit Will Breathe, the rally included representatives from ACCESS, BAMN, Queer Pride Detroit and Detroit Hispanic Development Corporation. Immigrant rights groups, indigenous people's groups and other activists marched from Patton Park, up Vernor Highway to Clark Park, where a rally was held Sunday evening."
What, the Judean People's Popular Front, the People's Popular Front of Judea, the Judean Peoples' Front and the Peoples' Judean Front couldn't make it to the protest?
From the article:"What had been a mostly peaceful protest took a dangerous turn late Sunday when a Detroit police officer drove an SUV through a crowd of protesters AFTER THEY SURROUNDED THE VEHICLE AND BEGAN POUNDING ON IT."
My response: 'Bout time. Yes, the protest took a dangerous turn when the protestors became rioters by those actions and yes, those actions led to a response that could have taken their lives as they well knew it could. Was the aim to provoke a death or two for propaganda? Who knows. . . but it is 'bout time rioters masquerading as peaceful protesters [with what seems like media collusion] faced the consequences. What they did was not peaceful protest. They, by their actions, threatened life in the vehicle.
It seems to me the people who protest don't seem to know the difference between freedom and licence. The constitution gives us the right to protest not attack police officers or damage public property.
Police Lives Matter!! SUPPORT THE BLUE ALL THE WAY!!
"What you're seeing is us taking control back as the people, and showing exactly what our needs are," he said. "I think police haven't seen that in a while so they don't know how to control that." It looked to me that the officers knew exactly what to do. Good job, officers. I wish I were there to shake your hands. Good job!
I would do the same thing the Officer did, if people were climbing on my car.
So here is a question if people jump on top of the hood of your care why does the media think this is not a crime ? It seems to me we need to change the law and if people attack your car and jump on it the person should be allowed to drive away and not be charged. Because this seems to be a tactic they do, then they smash the hood and windows and normally pull the person out of the care and do terrible things. Look the 80 years olds running the country need to be stopped. They are just mentally not able to cope with any of this. Local government leaders need to make laws that protect us. if your in your 30s, 40's, 50's 60's, we need to ban together and think about what direction we want the country to be in. I think if you happen to be a family and riving around you should not have to worry about this happening. This type of incident is basically taking our freedom to move around our legal right and we need to enact laws to allow protests but when they do this to cars it needs to be a really strict penalty with fines and felony etc. Lets start reconstructing the law, while also redoing mental health. could hospitals/prisons for a more compassionate place. We know some of the people doing this stuff need help. This is not normal behavior. Older attrneys have torn this country aprt by taking advantage and really if we limited the amount attorneys can win in these kinds of law suits they would not be financially gaining from dismantling our legal system. We have a lot to think about. Behind the scnes every little town and city needs to pass its on laws and change. That is how we do it. Huff post is a relic of the 1960s. It is 2020 and we have lots of technology, cameras etc at our disposal to make a very fair legal system. Plus retina scanning. The best tech ever, it does not racially profile. Even if people have on masks, we can still possibly identify them. The older people do not understand the technology and this is why we have so many issues passing the less discriminatory legislation. They just don't understand anything.
Support the Police! BLUE lives matter.
God bless the men and women of the Detroit Police Department.
These people do not realize that the silent majority is watching quietly. But they will speak loud and clear with those ballots on election day. I know people who are registering to vote for the first time in thier mod thirties because of this. I myself have a class on the 11th of july to conceal carry. These people are diminishing their chances in the up coming election. Enough is enough, your cause lost any credibility once the wide spread looting and riots took place. They want to say the violence is brought by outside groups. But looking at the videos and pictures of the protests and looters the two appear to be the same
Thank you to those who are supporting the police office. The video I saw did not show peaceful demonstrators. Peaceful demonstrators do not surround a police vehicle, throw things at it, and jump on the hood. What would any reasonable person expect that officer to do? He did what he had to do, and from what I saw, he did not speed away through the crowd. The demonstrators created the problem and now they want to cry foul. I hope the mayor and police commissioner have enough courage to stand up for that officer!!
This is easily solved by protesting in the parks and sidewalks instead of the road. Was there something wrong with staying in Patton Park or Clark Park ?
