Apr. 29—CHAUMONT — Details of the incident that resulted in an officer shooting a man in Chaumont remain scarce as of Monday afternoon.

Troop D Public Information Officer Jennifer L. Jiron said Monday in an email that state police are not yet able to release information regarding the suspect or deputies involved in the incident.

A news release Saturday from the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office stated that they responded to a report of a domestic incident.

A man allegedly ran toward police brandishing a weapon.

Police say they retreated while telling the man to drop the weapon. When he didn't comply, the officers fired shots at him.

The man was detained and given aid while awaiting EMS, the news release stated. He was taken to Samaritan Medical Center.

No officers were injured.

Jiron said state police hope to release information in the next few days.
