A desperate craving for Nando's chicken compels driver to run a red light

We all get chicken cravings, but most of us stop short of breaking the law to satisfy it.

One driver in Western Australia did just that on Monday evening, driving through a red traffic light and landing themselves a A$300 (US$226) fine in the process.

"I'm in a rush to get the kids Nando's," the driver said, according to the ticket WA Police posted on their Twitter account. Seems this family can't get enough of that peri-peri chicken goodness.

But for police, "there is simply no excuse" when it comes to committing traffic violations. Fair enough. Although a desperate need for Nando's is a pretty novel one.

For those who aren't familiar, Nando's is an ~iconic~ Portuguese rotisserie chain that's popular in the UK (hence the slang term "cheeky Nando's"), Australia and parts of Africa.

If you haven't tried it, you really don't know what you're missing. People go mad for their hot sauces, sometimes so much so that they ruin dates. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
