Five-star safety Derek Williams has committed to Texas, he announced on Twitter Monday.

Williams is the No. 3 safety and No. 37 player in the nation, per 247Sports Composite. At 6-foot-2 and 185 pounds, Williams attends Westgate High School and is the No. 3 player in Louisiana.

"1000% COMMITTED," Williams wrote.

Williams officially visited Texas this past weekend. His top eight schools included LSU, Clemson, Miami, Texas A&M, Michigan, Alabama, Texas and Oklahoma.

He joins a growing Longhorn recruiting class that added five-star quarterback Arch Manning last week. Texas has the No. 3 recruiting class in the nation following Williams' decision.

Westgate won its first state championship this past season in Class 4A. Williams was a major contributor to the Tigers' success, as he was named Outstanding Defensive Player of the Year in Class 4A by the Louisiana Sports Writer's Association.
