Derby prom moved due to severe weather threat

DERBY, Kan. (KSNW) – Derby Public Schools announced on Friday that they are moving the location of their high school’s prom due to this weekend’s weather forecast.

According to their Facebook page, Derby’s prom was initially going to be held at WAVE on Saturday, April 27, from 8-10 p.m. After exploring all of their emergency shelter options, they decided to move the prom to the high school.

“Holding Prom at the school allows us to utilize our FEMA-rated shelters if severe weather occurs and accommodate the number of attendees in an enclosed space,” reads the letter.
