Deputy Head of Presidential Office cleared in conflict of interest case: Court closes investigation
Pechersk Court of Kyiv closed case against the Deputy Head of the Presidential Office Rostyslav Shurma on conflict of interest, reported Vitaliy Shabunin, Head of the Anti-Corruption Action Center, on Telegram on March 26.

According to Shabunin, the NACP (National Agency on Corruption Prevention) had previously drawn up an administrative report against Shurma, who, while chairing a meeting of one of the Presidential Office's committees, lobbied a decision in favor of his brother, an entrepreneur, who later recieved multimillion contracts.
The case was closed by Judge Svitlana Shaputko, who, according to investigators, is related to the Deputy Head of the Presidential Office, Oleh Tatarov.
He also noted that it was closed hearing.

"Pechersk Court, as well as the prosecutor's office (which was supposed to defend the NACP protocol), kept silent about such a socially important hearing," wrote Shabunin.
"We are waiting for the court decision to be published in order to analyze in detail how the Prosecutor General's Office broke the law by saving another deputy of Yermak."
According to Shabunin, if the case had been heard in public, Shurma would "most likely" have been found guilty.

NACP compiled a report on administrative violations against Shurma on Feb. 23, the protocol was drawn up in connection with Shurma's violation of the requirements for preventing and resolving conflicts of interest. Shurma himself called the NACP's administrative protocol a "legally insignificant document" and "nonsense."
Earlier, Nashi Hroshi journalists reported that Ukrzaliznytsia had chosen Shurma's partner companies as a supplier of rails worth UAH 666 million ($17 million).
