DENVER (KDVR) — An Adams County Sheriff’s Office deputy sustained minor injuries after he fell while chasing a stolen vehicle early Sunday morning.

According to the sheriff’s office, around 4:30 a.m., a deputy located a stolen vehicle in the 7100 block of Quivas Street. The driver took off with the car, but a short time later came back around and stopped near the deputy.

The deputy tried to open the passenger door and the sheriff’s department said the driver took off again. The deputy ran with the car for a short distance before falling to the ground as the car drove off.

The deputy was treated for minor injuries including road rash and later released.

Nearby neighbor Neal Gamache told FOX31 that he was surprised to see something like this happen in his neighborhood.

“Occasionally there’s a little car break-ins or kids doing stuff, but nothing this dramatic,” Gamache said.

His Ring doorbell camera caught some of the incident. He and his wife woke up to see it all unfold in the footage.

“We saw a car driving really fast, unsafe speeds through our neighborhood,” Gamache said. “Kind of made us raise our eyebrows.”

The stolen car was located by other deputies at a later time and a short chase began. However, the deputies eventually lost the vehicle near Denver and Aurora.
