Deputies: Suspect threatened, pointed gun at witness

(PUEBLO, Colo.) — The Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) is asking for the public’s help in finding a suspect after a menacing incident that happened on Sunday, Jan. 21.

PCSO said on Sunday, just after midnight, deputies were called to the Fish Game at 23198 East U.S. Highway 50 near 23rd Lane about a report of possible domestic violence. A witness told deputies he heard a woman screaming and saw a man forcing her into a 2007 gold Dodge Nitro.

A witness tried to intervene but the suspect pointed a gun and threatened him, according to PCSO. The suspect vehicle was then seen leaving the area, going east on Hwy 50.

Deputies responding to the menacing incident saw the suspect vehicle westbound on Hwy 50 and attempted a traffic stop near San Mateo Road.

The driver, later identified as 29-year-old Jesami Armstrong, didn’t stop.

Armstrong allegedly continued to elude deputies until the suspects were going west on 4th Street near the intersection with Fountain Avenue.

Deputies said Armstrong and the man jumped out of the slow-moving vehicle, and the vehicle came to a stop after hitting a pole.

Armstrong was apprehended and taken into custody by deputies soon after and is facing charges on three outstanding warrants and new charges of Reckless Driving, Eluding, and Resisting Arrest.

The man, who has not been identified, was last seen running into the backyard of a home in the 700 block of Fountain Avenue. Deputies, along with the Pueblo Police Department (PPD) searched the area but were unable to find him.
