Deputies seeking armed and dangerous suspect

May 6—BARWICK- Thomas County Sheriff's Office deputies are seeking information on the whereabouts of Laron Maurice Jones, after he reportedly shot his girlfriend on Friday evening.

According to TCSO Captain Tim Watkins, deputies were dispatched to the 2000 block of Main Street in Barwick at approximately 6:53 p.m. in reference to a shooting on Friday night.

Upon arrival, they found a female victim who had been struck once in her upper extremities and torso. Emergency Medical Services arrived on scene and transported the victim to Archbold Memorial Hospital, where she was interviewed by TCSO investigators.

During the interview, the victim revealed the was shot by her boyfriend, identified as Jones.

After the initial interview, the victim was transported to Tallahassee for further evaluation.

TCSO deputies, along with authorities from Colquitt County, returned to the scene of the crime and performed a search for Jones, but they were unable to locate him.

Warrants for aggravated battery, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon have been issued for Jones.

At this time, Jones is considered armed and extremely dangerous. Deputies are asking for the public's help in locating him. They are encouraged to call the TCSO at 229-225-3315 if they know of any information, but to not approach Jones.

Jones is described as a 5-foot-6, 240-pound Black male, born in 1985.
