Deputies: Motorcyclist killed in Mecosta County crash

CHIPPEWA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Authorities say a motorcyclist was killed after a crash in Mecosta County on Sunday.

The Mecosta County Sheriff’s Office said the crash happened around 5 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of 20 Mile Road and 80th Avenue in Chippewa Township, west of Barryton.

The sheriff’s office said a 32-year-old Evart man was heading eastbound on 20 Mile Road when he tried to miss hitting a deer in the roadway, causing him to go off the roadway and crash.

The motorcyclist was taken to the hospital, where he died from his injuries, according to a news release.

The sheriff’s office identified the motorcyclist as Dustin Hyden, 32, of Evart.
