Deputies arrest Louisiana teen connected to two separate Ascension Parish shootings

ASCENSION PARISH, La. (BRPROUD) — An investigation led to the arrest of a teen accused of two separate Ascension Parish shootings.

Keelan Irvin Jr., 17, was charged with six counts of attempted second-degree murder, two counts of negligent injuring, seven counts of aggravated criminal damage to property and two counts of illegal use of weapons.

The Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to shots fired near a mobile home community on South St. Landry Avenue around 1 a.m. Sunday, May 12. Investigators found a car with six people in it struck by gunfire. No injuries were reported.

Arrest made after Baton Rouge police chase ends in multi-car crash

Irvin was identified as the suspected shooter and investigators learned that he and the victims fought before the shooting, according to the sheriff’s office.

Irvin was booked into the Ascension Parish Jail on Tuesday, May 14. He was rebooked into the jail after detectives learned that he was connected to a Friday, May 10 shooting at a Prairieville event hall on Airline Highway that left two victims with non-life-threatening injuries.

According to jail records, his bond was set at $145,000.

Deputies said shooting investigations are ongoing.
