Deputies make arrest in Delmar bank robbery

Mar. 8—A Knoxville, Iowa, man was arrested Friday afternoon in Eldridge after a reported bank robbery in Delmar.

Charges are pending against Jeffrey Brian Bettis, 37, according to a news release from the Sheriff's Office.

Clinton County Sheriff's deputies responded to a report at 12:25 p.m., of a bank robbery at the Delmar Branch of Clinton National Bank, 301 Western Ave. They investigated the area and generated a suspect from video surveillance. The lowa State Patrol stopped a suspect vehicle in Eldridge, where Bettis was arrested.

The Clinton County Sheriffs Office was assisted by the lowa State Patrol, Jackson County Sheriffs Office, Dewitt Police Department, Federal Bureau of lnvestigation, and the Clinton County Attorney's Office.

This is the second bank robbery in Clinton County in two months. On Jan. 23, authorities arrested Brian McKinzie, 53, of Clinton, in New Mexico, after Clinton National Bank on Lincoln Way in Clinton was robbed Jan. 13. He was extradited to Iowa and is the Clinton County Jail. He has pleaded not guilty to second-degree robbery, a Class C felony.

According to the criminal complaint, Clinton National Bank at 2350 LincolnWay, reported a robbery at 9:46 a.m. Jan. 13. A man had come into the bank, handed a teller a note demanding all the $100 and $50 bills in the bank drawer. He left in a Blue Ford Ecosport without license plates
