Denver weather: Sunny Thursday ahead of afternoon thunderstorms

DENVER (KDVR) — More sunshine and 70s are in the forecast for Denver’s weather for the first half of Thursday. This will be ahead of afternoon thunderstorms and a wet, cooler weekend.

Weather tonight: Partly cloudy, mild

Wednesday night will stay partly cloudy and mild. Low temperatures will fall to the mid-40s, which is nearly 10 degrees above normal for this time of year.

Weather tomorrow: Afternoon thunderstorms, tornado chance

Thursday will start with sunshine and temperatures will increase to the mid-70s.

As high temperatures climb, clouds will increase ahead of scattered showers and thunderstorms in the late afternoon and evening thunderstorms.

Some thunderstorms could be strong to severe in the Eastern Plains and toward the northeast corner of the state, with hail and damaging winds as the primary concern, alongside an isolated tornado risk.

Looking ahead: Rain, cooler

Friday will start with increasing clouds and another chance for showers by the evening. Rain showers will stick around the forecast on Saturday, alongside much cooler temperatures only reaching a high in the 50s.

More showers are in the forecast through the first half of Sunday ahead of clearing conditions by Sunday evening.

Rainfall totals from Thursday through Sunday will reach nearly an inch in the Denver area. Higher elevations could see a wintry mix of rain and snowfall, but most areas will see less than an inch of snow.

Monday, sunshine and warmer temperatures move into the forecast. Highs will climb to 70 degrees on Monday, to the mid-to-upper 70s Tuesday and then 80 degrees by Wednesday.
