Denver weather: Snowy, slick roads Friday morning; Pinpoint Weather Alert Day

DENVER (KDVR) — Snow is underway across Colorado and will build into Denver weather on Thursday evening and continue into early Friday, which will be a Pinpoint Weather Alert Day.

According to Pinpoint Weather, Colorado’s Most Accurate Forecast, the metro could see a few inches of accumulation by early Friday, which could create slick and slow travel. The snow will end from north to south later in the afternoon.

Weather tonight: Snow and cold

Snow will continue overnight across the mountains and along the Front Range. Snow in extreme northeast Colorado will end later Thursday night.

Temperatures will be cold and below freezing across the state, with readings in the teens and 20s. Roads will turn slick and slushy in most places after sunset.

Weather tomorrow: Snow early, ends late

There will be snow early on Friday during the morning commute, especially along the Front Range and in metro Denver. Roads could be slick to slushy for several hours during the drive.

Snow will taper off from north to south later in the day. Roads should improve in time for the Friday evening drive.

Looking ahead: Warmer before next rain-snow

The weather quickly dries out Friday night, making way for a sunny weekend. Temperatures will warm into the seasonal 50s on Saturday followed by even warmer 60s on Sunday. There will be lots of melting snow as a result.

The milder 60s will stick around to start next week.

The next chance for rain and snow arrives midweek with another shot of cooler temperatures. The Pinpoint Weather team forecasts Wednesday rain showers that mix with snow into Thursday.
