Denver weather: Rain in the city, snow in the mountains

DENVER (KDVR) — More showers are in Denver’s weather for the end of the workweek and start of the weekend, and new snow is expected to affect travel in higher elevations.

Winter weather advisories are in effect for elevations above 7,500 feet until Friday. New snow could lead to difficult travel Thursday night through Friday.

Weather tonight: Spotty showers

Thursday night, cool and cloudy conditions continue to dominate the forecast, alongside the chance for showers. Low temperatures will fall to 40 degrees, which is seasonal for this time of year.

Weather tomorrow: Cool, showers

Friday will be cool and cloudy. There is a chance for morning showers and another chance for showers or thunderstorms by the afternoon and evening in the metro, with more snow in higher elevations.

High temperatures will climb into the upper 50s, which is about 10 degrees cooler than normal for this time of year.

Looking ahead: More spring showers, warmer

Saturday will start dry and mostly sunny. As high temperatures climb to the upper 60s, clouds will increase ahead of another chance for showers.

Mother’s Day will bring another chance for showers, especially later in the day. Temperatures will climb from a morning low in the 40s to a high in the mid to upper 60s, which is right in line with normal for this time of year.

Heading into the workweek, warmer temperatures move into the forecast. Monday through Wednesday will also follow a familiar pattern of a chance for showers.
