Denver weather: Pinpoint Weather Alert Day for strong wind this weekend

DENVER (KDVR) — A Pinpoint Weather Alert Day continues through Sunday due to strong wind gusts in Denver’s weather.

Wind gusts will be strongest in the foothills, reaching over 80 mph in some spots.

High wind warnings continue until noon Sunday as wind gusts could reach 50-75 mph across the Front Range and over 80 mph in the Foothills.

Fire weather warnings continue for the foothills through Sunday morning due to dry conditions and strong winds.

Winter weather advisories remain in effect for the mountains through Sunday. Snow and blowing snow from strong wind gusts will lead to very difficult travel.

Weather tonight: Windy, cool, mountain snow

Saturday night, winds will continue to increase to around 30 mph with gusts over 50 mph. Wind gusts will be even stronger in the foothills, gusting over 80 mph.

Temperatures will fall to the 30s, which is normal for this time of year.

Snow showers will continue in the mountains, but little moisture will make it to the foothills or Front Range.

Weather tomorrow: Breezy, cool

Sunday will stay breezy and cool. Wind gusts will stay strong out of the west-northwest reaching 30-40 mph.

Temperatures will stay about 5 degrees below normal for this time of year, and only climb to the mid-50s.

Snow will continue in the mountains through Sunday. Even though the high country will only pick up a couple more inches of snow, blowing snow will continue to make travel difficult.

Looking ahead: Workweek warmup

It will be a much calmer start to the week. Monday will be mostly sunny, with calmer winds only gusting to 15-20 mph.

Temperatures will stay slightly below normal, climbing to a high in the 50s.

Temperatures will climb to the upper 50s to lower 60s through Wednesday alongside a slight chance for showers. Then, temperatures climb back into the 70s on Friday and Saturday.
