How much snow to expect across Front Range this weekend

DENVER (KDVR) — Even though temperatures hit 70 degrees in early April, the spring snow isn’t over just yet.

The Denver area and foothills will get some snow, with totals as low as 1 inch to as high as 10 inches in some areas.

Weekend forecast

It’s going to be a wet start to the weekend in Denver. Friday starts with rain showers that will turn into snow, leaving a few inches on the ground by Saturday.

Meanwhile, other areas across the Front Range could see as much as 10 inches.

Timing

In the Denver metro area, rain showers are set to continue through Friday night and into early Saturday morning. The snow should start by 7 p.m. on Friday and stop by mid-morning on Saturday.

In the high country, there will be flakes at midday on Friday which will continue into Saturday until around the mid-afternoon.

Most of the snow will be around Georgetown, Boulder and Conifer. The snow should start in Georgetown by 2 p.m. while it will pick up in Boulder by 5 p.m. and in Conifer by 6 p.m.

Castle Rock will see accumulations after 6 p.m. and Keenesburg and Bennett will get flakes after 7 p.m.

For Denver, the storm will mainly be a mix of rain and snow, with only a little bit of flakes sticking on the ground starting Friday night.

Overnight Friday into Saturday, Denver will see around 2 inches on the ground. However, other areas of Colorado will see much more.

Here are the areas that will see the most snow in the Front Range:

  • Georgetown: 10 inches

  • Boulder: 5 inches

  • Conifer: 5 inches

  • Estes Park: 4 inches

  • Bennet: 3 inches

  • Parker: 2 inches

  • Denver: 2 inches

Meanwhile, the Palmer Divide will see 2-4 inches, and there will be around 4-10 inches in the foothills.
