Denver weather: Midweek cold front to bring more needed rain

​​​​​DENVER (KDVR) — Denver weather picked up some much-needed May moisture on Sunday, and there is another chance to record more rain midweek.

Rain totals from the soggy Mother’s Day exceeded a half inch in places, according to Pinpoint Weather, Colorado’s Most Accurate Forecast.

Weather tonight: Few storms early

Scattered showers and thunderstorms will move off the Colorado mountains and across the Eastern Plains early Monday evening. Most of the storms will dissipate with the setting sun. Some clouds will linger overnight as well.

Temperatures will be in the chilly 30s in the Colorado mountains with milder 40s across lower elevations, including metro Denver.

Weather tomorrow: Scattered storms, warmer

Tuesday will see partly sunny skies and warmer temperatures across the state.

There will be another round of mountain thunderstorms that will drift east over the Front Range during the afternoon and early evening before ending. A few storms may contain gusty wind, lightning and some small hail.

Looking ahead: Midweek rain, cooler

The Pinpoint Weather team is tracking a cold front that will arrive early on Wednesday. Denver will have mostly cloudy skies and cooler afternoon readings in the 60s.

There is a good chance for rain showers and a few possible thunderstorms. Another quarter to half-inch of needed moisture is possible with the midweek showers.

The weather will turn dry and warm with 80-degree temperatures forecast on Friday and Saturday. The next chance for showers and thunderstorms will be on Sunday into early next week with scattered storms in the afternoon.
