Denver weather: Dry and warm before storms return this holiday weekend

DENVER (KDVR) — The latest round of rain will be moving out of Denver weather on Tuesday evening and setting up a few dry and warmer days to enjoy. The next chance for late-day showers and thunderstorms arrives at the start of the Memorial Day weekend.

After severe storms on Monday night, more hail and rain hit the region on Tuesday night. Hail piled up on Interstate 25 south of Denver, hitting homes in Castle Pines and Parker, with heavy rain on C-470 near Morrison causing low visibility.

According to Pinpoint Weather, Colorado’s Most Accurate Forecast, the chance for rain on Memorial Day weekend is low and the storms will be scattered, not widespread. Have a plan to head indoors for a brief period should a thunderstorm head your way.

Rain and snow showers will end from west to east through the Tuesday evening hours. The snow should end in the mountains around 10 p.m. Rain showers will end across metro Denver between 7-9 p.m. and around 11 p.m. on the far Eastern Plains.

As skies clear overnight, it will turn cold in the mountains with below-freezing temperatures and will be chilly in the mid- to upper 30s for Denver and the Front Range.

Weather tomorrow: Sunny and seasonal

It will be mainly sunny and dry across Colorado on Wednesday. There will be a few passing, late-day clouds. The wind will be light and from the southwest.

Temperatures will warm into the 60s and 70s with more seasonal readings for metro Denver and the Front Range.

Looking ahead: Few afternoon storms this weekend

A few scattered, late-day thunderstorms will be possible each day from Friday through Sunday. The coverage will be low each afternoon, and at this time, the threat of severe storms does not look likely.

Friday will be cooler followed by warm 70s for the rest of the weekend.

The forecast for Memorial Day is looking dry and seasonal with afternoon readings reaching the low to mid-70s. That dry forecast is sticking around into early next week as well.
