After days of cloud cover, when will the sunshine return?

DENVER (KDVR) — Denver’s weather has been cloudy since Wednesday evening, and it might be a couple of days before the Mile High City sees the sun again.

On Wednesday, some high-altitude clouds covered much of the sky throughout the day, and lower-altitude clouds brought fully overcast skies by about 8 p.m., a National Weather Service spokesperson explained to FOX31.

How much snow to expect across Front Range this weekend

“It never really did break out of it, it pretty much stayed overcast the entire day,” the NWS forecaster said. “Today it’s been the same thing.”

After some 46 hours of nonstop cloud cover as of Friday at 6 p.m., Denverites can expect the trend to stick around for the weekend.

Clouds will continue to cover the sky Friday night through Saturday morning. The NWS forecaster said the overcast skies will likely last through Saturday, possibly into the night.

When will Denver see the sun again?

The next time Denver sees the sun might not be until Sunday.

The NWS forecaster said radars and model data suggest that clouds will stick around, but the forecast could change. As of Friday evening, the NWS expects clouds to begin to break up around 6 a.m. Sunday, continuing to clear out through the day.

“After 6 a.m. Sunday it looks like it starts breaking apart,” the NWS forecaster said. “So I’d say another 36 hours or so.”

When seasonal mountain road closures will be lifted in Colorado

Sunday is expected to be partly cloudy with seasonal temperatures in the lower 60s. Over the weekend, Denver is expected to get up to a half-inch of rainfall.

Meanwhile, it will be snowy in the mountains. The Front Range will get some snow, with totals as low as 1 inch ranging as high as 10 inches in some areas. Most of the snow will fall near Georgetown, Boulder and Conifer.

The NWS noted that some roads could get slushy, even in the lower elevations.
