Denver weather: Cooler weekend with sun, big warm-up coming next week

DENVER (KDVR) —  Denver’s weather is forecasted to dry out this weekend with more sunshine, especially Saturday. This will be followed by even more sunshine and warmer temperatures over the next week.

Weather today: Mostly sunny, below average temperatures

There was some patchy fog earlier Saturday morning but it has since burned off.

Temperatures will be slow to warm Saturday with highs reaching into the middle to lower 40s under mostly sunny skies. This is about 10 degrees below average for this time of the year.

Look for winds to come out of the west around 5-15 mph.

Southwest Colorado is under a Winter Storm Warning and Winter Weather Advisory.

The Winter Storm Warning is in effect for the southwest San Juan Mountains as they are anticipating another 1-5″ of snowfall. Meanwhile, a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect until 9 a.m. tomorrow for the San Juan Mountains with another 6-12″ of snow possible there.

Weather tonight: Mostly cloudy skies

Clouds increase overnight as temperatures drop down into the upper 20s and lower 30s. Denver is anticipating more areas of black ice come early Sunday morning, as snow will melt during the day and then refreeze overnight.

Because of this, people should be careful on the roadways. It will also be breezy at times Saturday night with gusts up to 20 mph.

Looking ahead: Warmer weather incoming

Denver will have a few more clouds in the fold for us for our St. Patrick’s Day Sunday. Temperatures will remain below average in the middle to lower 40s.

This is all ahead of a warming trend which starts on Monday. Denver will kick off the work week with high temperatures in the middle 50s under mostly sunny skies, which is right around average for this time of the year.

60s make a return on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday ahead of another chance for showers by the end of the week.
