Denver weather: Are 80-degree days common in May?
DENVER (KDVR) — Denver is on track to hit 80 degrees this weekend, which is above normal for this time of year. But is it uncommon to see 80s so soon?
On April 14, Denver hit 80 degrees. This is the warmest temperature recorded so far in Denver this year, and the first and only time so far that Denver has hit a high of at least 80 degrees in 2024.
That was about two weeks earlier than Denver usually records its first 80-degree day of the season, but still not close to record-setting.

The earliest Denver has ever hit 80 degrees or hotter was on February 10, 2017. Denver has gone as late as June 14, 1883, without hitting the 80-degree mark.
May 2024 has been cooler than normal, with only three days hitting the 70s so far, and zero days in the 80s.
May 2023 was cool and wet, with only two days in the 80s on May 29 and 30.
May 2022, on the other hand, brought Denver 11 days with highs in the 80s and one day hitting 90 degrees.
Denver weather: Sunny and hot before spotty weekend storms
In the last five years, Denver has averaged six to seven days in May at 80 degrees or warmer.
With two more weeks left in the month, there is still time to get closer to that average.
May 17 and 19, for example, are both on track to hit highs in the 80s.
