Denver police investigating outdoor death turned homicide case

DENVER (KDVR) — Denver police said an outdoor death from Monday has turned into a homicide investigation and identified a suspect, as well as a cause of death.

Just after 7 a.m. on Monday, the Denver Police Department tweeted about an outdoor death investigation in the 1800 block of South Quebec Way. The area is in the Indian Creek neighborhood in southeast Denver.

On Tuesday at 10:50 a.m., Denver police posted another tweet saying the outdoor death was now being investigated as a homicide. The agency reported a suspect has been taken into custody.

At about 2:50 p.m. on Tuesday, the agency provided FOX31 with more details.

Denver police said that the cause of death was a crash between a motorist and a pedestrian at about 2:35 a.m. on March 11. The victim was pronounced dead on scene, and the investigation showed that the pair knew each other and had argued before the crash.

Detectives said that the victim tried to enter the vehicle as the driver attempted to drive away, but was dragged before falling into the roadway.

The driver was identified as Jeremy Lewis, 28, and is being held on investigation of second-degree murder.
