Demi Lovato Says She's Taking Power Away from Body-Shamers with Sizzling Bikini Snaps

Demi Lovato revealed that she’s taking back the power back from body-shaming trolls during Monday’s episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

Demi Lovato is sorry, not sorry that she’s above the body-shamers.

While making an appearance on Monday’s segment of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, the pop songstress opened up about how she plans to tune out the trolls in 2018.

After sharing a sizzling swimsuit snap on Instagram two weeks earlier, the Disney alum confessed that she had to overcome certain insecurities to post it on social media. “I actually was very hesitant about posting that because I didn’t love my legs in it,” the “Confident” star admitted to the host.

However, Lovato, who has divulged about her struggles with an eating disorder and body image in the past, made the decision to share the image with her followers. “I decided to post it anyways because I thought, ‘You know what, it’s me, it’s who I am and I love my body, so I’m just going to post it,'" she said.

Despite self criticism and fear of online trolls, the experience made her feel free. “I’ve taken away the power from the negative comments and the haters by not listening to them and if I do see it, I just feel sorry for them, because who leaves a negative comment on somebody’s profile on the internet?" she continued. "You have to be kind of sad to do that. I’ve taken away the power, and it just feels great.”

That being said, the 25-year-old admits that the fight is far from over. “I still deal with things, and I wanted to show my fans that it’s still a daily struggle with certain issues,” she said as she spoke about the challenges portrayed in her YouTube documentary, Simply Complicated.

“But I’m fighting hard, and I want to show my fans that you can continue to fight hard and live the life that you deserve.”
