In fact doctors say as many as one third of children at Dell are testing positive for flu. Just a couple of weeks ago, Dell was seeing more bronchiolitis cases -- a viral infection that inflames the airways and makes it more difficult for kids to breathe. Now doctors are seeing more kids with typical flu symptoms like headache, fever, scratchy throat and body aches. "One of the things that's interesting this year is we're having large numbers. I mean, we've treated hundreds of flu cases in the past two weeks early in the season.  Flu doesn't typically peak until mid-February, so it looks like we may be in for a pretty active season," said Dr. Pat Crocker at Dell Children's. Dr. Crocker says there's no way of knowing if this early surge in flu means flu season could end earlier than usual or if we're just in for a long, tough flu season. He says because flu is spread from sneeze or cough droplets, the best advice is to wash your hands frequently, and try to avoid touching your hands, face or eyes.   Print print Email Email this article | MORE MORE!
