Delgado Community College offers diverse Criminal Justice program

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Delgado Community College offers a two-year associate’s degree in criminal justice, and all of those hours are transferrable to four-year schools.

Professor Joel George said the curriculum is diverse.

“You can work in policing, you can work in corrections, you can work in the courts. What I like to expound on the students, is the support in the criminal justice system. Because some people don’t want to work as a police officer, but you can work as a civilian,” said Professor Joel George.

George said students graduate and accept jobs that pay $50-60,000 thousand dollars. He said criminal justice has many myths, among them.

“A lot of the social media platforms, they assume that all police are bad,” said George.

“It’s less than three to four percent. We have 18,000 police agencies in the United States, and when I tell students that, they’re like, ‘what?'” added George.

The Criminal Justice program at Delgado Community College, another reason why Delgado Community College is step closer to unstoppable.
